Total investment exceeds 2 billion, and progress of two major MLED projects refreshes

After the start of construction during the Spring Festival, the construction of LED display industry projects continued to accelerate, and multiple projects successively ushered in the start, completion and production nodes. Recently, related projects owned by BOE Huacan, Guizhou Yuhui Electronics and other companies have disclosed the latest construction progress.

▋ BOE Huacan Micro LED wafer manufacturing and packaging testing base plans to undergo technical transformation

Recently, BOE Huacan Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. announced the "BOE Huacan Micro LED Wafer Manufacturing and Packaging Testing Base Technical Transformation Project."

According to public information, BOE Huacan’s Micro LED wafer manufacturing and packaging testing base project has a total investment of 2 billion. Its main products are an annual output of 588 million Micro LED wafer sets and 45,000kk MicroLED pixel devices. The product MicroLED wafers and pixel devices are mainly used in application fields such as large-size commercial displays, wearable devices and ARVR head-mounted display devices.

The project has now formed facilities with a production capacity of 23,500 MicroLED wafers and 18,000kk MicroLED pixel devices, as well as the approved public auxiliary projects and environmental protection facilities. It completed the phased environmental protection acceptance of the Micro LED wafer manufacturing and packaging testing base project on April 19, 2025, and has been put into operation. The original approved remaining production capacity and facilities of 35,300 Micro LED wafers and 27,000k Micro LED pixel devices have been approved but have not yet been built.

Based on market conditions, the company plans to adjust product specifications for the approved and unbuilt parts. At the same time, in order to reduce company costs, it plans to refine the gold- and platinum-containing precious metals stripped by metal evaporation from existing projects. At the same time, it plans to produce and supply 1,000 pieces of the red and yellow wafer raw materials originally purchased from outside. The contents of this transformation are as follows:

1. The 35,300 pieces of MicroLED wafers that have been approved and not yet built were originally approved as 4-inch wafers. The original approved process equipment can produce 6-inch wafers without any changes. The larger the chip layout, the higher the efficiency. The wafer production capacity is converted based on the original batch of restored auxiliary materials, and the production capacity is adjusted accordingly to 72,000 6-inch wafer products.

2. The original red and yellow wafers are outsourced. This transformation plans to use outsourced red and yellow epitaxial wafers to process 1,000 pieces of red and yellow wafers, replacing part of the outsourced red and yellow wafers for the preparation of MicroLED pixel devices.

3. For the preparation of MicroLED pixel devices, 1,000 pieces of self-produced original red and yellow wafers are used. After partial laser peeling, a water washing process needs to be added to generate arsenic-containing waste liquid. There are no changes in the remaining technological processes and pollutant production and discharge. According to industry shipping habits, MicroLED pixel devices are 45,000kk pieces, which is changed to 288,000 pieces for measurement.

4. A new precious metal recycling device will be built to extract the gold- and platinum-containing precious metals stripped by metal evaporation from existing projects, and will be equipped with supporting environmental protection facilities. The newly added production capacity is 650kg/a gold ingots and 180kg/a platinum ingots.

5. The public auxiliary project of this renovation relies on the existing environmental protection facilities for the production of 1,000 red and yellow wafers. The 1,000 red and yellow wafers need to be equipped with some wastewater projects.

After the change, the products include 23,500 4-inch Micro LED wafers, 72,000 6-inch Micro LED wafers, 288,000 Micro LED pixel devices, 6,750kg gold ingots, and 180kg platinum ingots.

▋ The second phase of Guizhou Yuhui Electronics’ factory renovation project started

On March 31, the opening ceremony of Guizhou Yuhui Electronics’ second phase of factory renovation project was successfully held in Building 30, Nanming District Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, Guiyang City.

According to public information, the overall plan of Yuhui Electronics' new optoelectronic display industry chain industrial park project uses 72,000 square meters of standard factory buildings, of which 11,000 square meters in the first phase have been built and officially put into use, laying a solid foundation for the company's development. The second phase of the project is expected to build 20,000 square meters, which will further improve the company's industrial layout and significantly increase production capacity.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will continue to focus on core technology areas such as LED and COB high-end display packaging, further enhance the company's core R&D and production competitiveness, and promote the company's new optoelectronic display industry chain to achieve large-scale layout, standardized production, and high-quality development.
