Two major Micro LED companies officially announce new progress in mass production and orders

Recently, Yanshan Technology and Yiben Technology have successively disclosed new progress in Micro LED mass production and orders.

▋ Yanshan Technology: The 8-inch gallium nitride on silicon Micro LED chip mass production line was put into operation

On May 22, Yanshan Technology held a commissioning ceremony at its Deqing factory and announced that its 8-inch gallium nitride on silicon Micro LED chip mass production line was officially put into production. At this point, Yanshan Technology has officially entered the mass production stage from the technical verification stage, achieving full-link IDM mass production capabilities from materials to devices.

Public information shows that Yanshan Technology was founded in May 2022 and focuses on the development and mass production of Micro LED display chips. It has multiple core technologies such as MOCVD material growth, semiconductor thin film integration, hybrid bonding and three-color vertical stacking. It is committed to developing semiconductor active light-emitting full-color Micro LED chips and modules. The products can be widely used in AR glasses, optical communications, commercial displays, watches, vehicles and many other scenarios.

In terms of product matrix, Yanshan Technology also lays out the two vertical fields of "micro display + direct display". In the field of direct display, its chip products cover a variety of applications such as commercial displays, TVs, watches, and transparent screens. Customers include Samsung, BOE, CSOT, Tianma, etc.; in the field of micro-display, its module products are mainly used in AR glasses, micro-projection and other scenarios. Customers include AVIC, BYD, Sunny, Goertek, Rokid, Thunderbird, etc.

In April this year, Yanshan Technology announced the completion of Series A financing; this round of financing was led by Haiwang Capital, with continued investment from a number of market-oriented institutions such as Oriental Jiafu, Ivy Capital, Jiupai Capital, etc. The financing funds were mainly used to accelerate the product iteration of the 8-inch silicon-based gallium nitride mass production line and overcome the mass production bottleneck of the Micro LED industry to achieve commercial delivery; at the same time, it will increase the research and development of the next generation of high-performance products and fully promote the implementation of dual-track industrialization of direct display and micro display.

According to Qichacha, up to now, Yanshan Technology has completed 6 rounds of financing; of which the Pre-A round of financing in 2025 has a financing amount of nearly 100 million yuan.

▋ Yiben Technology: MicroLED AOI equipment has received related project orders from industry leading customers

According to Yibi Technology’s official WeChat account, Yibi Technology’s MicroLED AOI equipment already has detection capabilities for G4.5 glass-based application scenarios, and has recently received related project orders from leading industry customers. It will be used in the construction of large-size glass-based MicroLED mass production lines to provide support for key detection and yield management in the high-end display manufacturing process.

In the manufacturing process of mid-to-high-generation glass-based MicroLEDs, the size of the substrate increases, the total number of pixels increases, and the complexity of the process increases. The inspection system needs to meet the following core requirements at the same time: more complex multi-layout, multi-pattern combination compatibility, higher stability of motion control capabilities, and higher-speed data processing capabilities. Mass production cadence capabilities under higher UPH, more complete yield data analysis and closed-loop capabilities, etc.

Yiben Technology has been deeply involved in the field of MicroLED testing for a long time, and has continued to invest in epitaxial non-pattern testing, AOI testing and PL testing. Related solutions have been verified and introduced by many head MicroLED customers.

Among them, in the upstream epitaxy and wafer links, Yibei Technology continues to strengthen the detection capabilities of defects and process stability; in the field of MicroLED PL detection, it has long-term service to domestic leading LED chip factories and MicroLED panel factory customers; in the AOI direction, it continues to carry out technology iterations around high precision, high stability and mass production capabilities, and continuously improves detection solutions for MicroLED mid-to-high-generation manufacturing scenarios.
