ams Osram announced that it has cooperated with Revolution Microelectronics, an American controlled agricultural environment solution provider, to provide solutions for plant lighting through the OSLON® Square platform and OSLON® SSL LED.
According to reports, OSLON® Square compact high-power LED has stability, high reliability, long life and extremely low thermal resistance. Together with high-performance OSLON® SSL LED products, it provides a light source for the plant lighting system Avici system.
The Avici system, manufactured by Revolution Microelectronics, provides lighting for GreenCare Collective's 9,200 square meter farm in Millbury, Massachusetts, USA.
The Millbury plant farm facility placed high demands on innovative horticulture lighting solutions. The plant farm uses modern crop processes, from plant tissue culture, propagation and transplantation of crops indoors to mobile operation tables, and an on-demand fertilization system to cleverly manage multiple different varieties. Within the farm, each room has 24 zones that provide crops with precise, customized doses of essential nutrients to produce top-quality produce.
By using ams Osram’s horticultural lighting 1W and 2W LED package product portfolio, GreenCare Collective’s equipment utilizes seasonally adjustable spectral control and advanced crop steering technology to achieve sustained yield increases and produce an additional plant harvest each year.
In addition, the high light output and fully editable spectrum allow growers to focus on the production of specific plant compounds, such as increasing terpenes (common, naturally occurring hydrocarbons found in plants), to increase yields.
ams Osram stated that the radiant flux of OSLON® Square GH CSSRM5.24 at 77% electro-optical conversion efficiency (WPE) is 1068 mW, the light efficiency at 700 mA is 4.19μ mol/J, and the photon flux is 5.83μ mol/s. Compared with traditional high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS), ams-OSRAM LEDs have market-leading light efficiency.
